'Meaning' in Husserl and Frege
Husserl's phenomenology, as a backward excavation, establishes meanings on the ground of pure conscious experiences that emerge with immediate clarity—as if the essence/core (Wesen/Kern) of a fruit were peeling away from its flesh—while Frege seeks meaning in the conceptual depths of language. That is, in Husserl, 'meaning' is discussed on the ground of transcendental consciousness, where we find the possibility of 'seeing' (anschauen) the eidetic essences of things, while in Frege it is investigated through the logical analysis of language.
This book, which examines the philosophical methodology, ontology, relationship with objectivity, number theories, and understandings of 'language-logic' and 'consciousness-thought' of both philosophers, is the first work in Turkish to comparatively address the phenomenology and analytical philosophy traditions through the philosophies of Husserl and Frege.
