INTERVIEW OF THE MONTH
This March, Asu Maro's Interview of the Month features Yetkin Dikinciler, who won the Golden Orange for his role in “Parçalı Yıllar” (Fragmented Years), which recounts the erotic film era of Yeşilçam. The successful actor candidly shares insights into actor Yetkin, the parents who raised him, son Yetkin, father Yetkin, and the shy and humorous human side of Yetkin.
CINEMA
The cinema pages open with a comprehensive dossier on the 98th Academy Awards, which will be held on the night of March 15. Seyfettin Tokmak, director and screenwriter of “Tavşan İmparatorluğu” (Rabbit Empire), which won seven awards at the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, discusses the film. The pages feature a review of the film “Take Your Heart and Walk,” which documents Israel's genocide in Gaza firsthand, as well as Jessie Buckley, who is a favorite for an Oscar with ‘Hamnet’ and appears before audiences this month in "Bride!/ Bride!“ this month, and Gus Van Sant, one of the important names in American independent cinema, whose new film ”The Breakdown" is now in theaters, are examined. Attila Dorsay, meanwhile, writes about John Huston's “Beat the Devil/Şeytanın İşi” in his “Treasures of Cinema” column.
PLASTIC ARTS
In the plastic arts pages of the new issue, Pera Museum's “By the Water's Edge: The Life and Art of Halil Pasha”; Ankara CerModern's “Timeless Masterpieces: A New Look at Monet & Cézanne”; Istanbul Art Museum's “The Memory of Color, the Spirit of the Brush: A Passionate Life Lived with Colors”; and Yapı Kredi Museum's “Whistling Memory” exhibitions. The pages also examine Banksy's new work in London, the murals in Nicosia's Old City, and Dirimart, which is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Hera Büyüktaşçıyan discusses her solo exhibition “Ghost Quartet” at Arter. İrem Maro shares her observations of Skopje in the “Distant Near Architecture” corner, while Ayşegül Sönmez writes about the memories of a deceased painter who has been sent off to eternity in the “Sanatatak” corner.
PERFORMING ARTS
Celal Kadri Kınoğlu, Okan Bayülgen, and Nihal Usanmaz discuss “The War of the Giants,” in which they will share the same stage; while stage workers recount the sacrifices made to keep theater alive despite everything. The performing arts pages also feature the World Theater Day Declarations by Derya Alabora, Engin Alkan, Nezaket Erden, and Engin Hepileri.
LITERATURE
The literature pages, featuring an interview with Müge İplikçi about her new novel Escape from Fake Paradise, review former child star and author Jennette McCurdy's first fiction novel Half His Age, while also offering an in-depth look at gastro-literature, which has grown and moved beyond its niche status in recent years.
