Verses Inscribed on the Mine

Throughout human history, money has been not only a medium of exchange but also a symbol reflecting the beliefs and cultures of societies. In the Islamic world, the minting of gold coins (dinar) began during the reign of the Umayyad Caliph Abdul Malik ibn Marwan.

In Hasan Mert Kaya's book Verses Engraved on Coins, verses from the coins of Islamic states are shown, ranging from the Hafsids to the Seljuks of Anatolia, the Ilkhanids to the Leon-Castilian Kingdom. This study details 34 coins, covering their periods, materials, minting locations, and dates in depth.

The work has been published in Turkish by Demirören Publishing in a limited edition of only 250 copies, and it is available in a special box for collectors.
