Turkish Theatre: From Şinasi to Turan Oflazoğlu
Prof. Dr. İnci Enginün is an academic who has taught courses and written extensively on Turkish theatre for many years. This work brings together Enginün’s writings on Turkish theatre, one of her major fields of interest. In these essays, original and translated works, as well as the playwrights who have shaped the history of Turkish theatre, are examined.
Beginning with Şinasi, who helped chart the course of Turkish theatre, the book studies the writers who contributed works and efforts to Turkish drama up to Turan Oflazoğlu. The analyses are presented in chronological order.
In the second section of the book, entitled “Evaluations of Staged Plays,” Enginün shares her impressions of performances she attended and provides brief commentaries on the plays.
