THE REIGN OF SULTAN ABDULHAMID II PALESTINE

Sultan Abdulhamid II, who famously said, "Every picture is an idea," commissioned photographs from across the Ottoman territories. Approximately 1,300 photographs of Palestinian cities were examined from the Yıldız Photograph Albums, along with 400 from the U.S. Library of Congress and nearly 200 from the New York Public Library. For the Palestine region, analyzed without regard to borders, 293 photographs were carefully selected, emphasizing their expressive power, many of which had never been published before.

The book Palestine in the Era of Sultan Abdulhamid II is organized into sections based on the administrative divisions of the early 1900s, covering the districts of Jerusalem, Nablus, and Acre. For the first time, the geography of Palestine is presented as a unified whole within a single book.
