TASTE
Taste is one of Roald Dahl's most brilliant stories. It was first published in the Ladies' Home Journal in March 1945, and then in The New Yorker in 1951.
Six people are sitting at a table in the home of London stockbroker Mike Schofield: Mike, his wife, his daughter, the unnamed narrator and his wife, and the famous gourmet Richard Pratt. Pratt has previously made a bet with Schofield about the wine served at dinner, but tonight's bet is bigger. When Schofield serves the second glass of wine, telling Pratt that he will never be able to guess which vineyard it comes from, the story of one of the strangest bets in literary history begins.
