Persian Grammar

Persian Grammar systematically presents the grammatical topics of the Persian language and consists of four sections.

The first section covers the Persian alphabet, sounds, and writing symbols, while the second section, entitled “Parts of Speech,” is composed of subsections that separately examine nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions. After providing definitions and rules related to each topic, the structural characteristics of words and their positions within sentences are clarified through example sentences. To facilitate comparison with Turkish, Turkish equivalents of all Persian grammatical terms are provided. In addition to the pronunciations of example words, all example sentences are translated into Turkish.

The third section addresses Persian sentence structures under its main headings. Different types of sentences are defined from various perspectives and explained through examples.

The fourth section, entitled “Classical Differences,” examines the major distinctions between Classical Persian and Modern Persian. Focusing particularly on verbs, it presents the significant differences between the older and newer forms of the language through examples and their Turkish translations.
