We are delighted to share this valuable work, "From Yesterday to Today: From Fındıklı to Tophane," with you. As the poet Edip Cansever said, "people resemble the place where they live." The fact that the General Directorate building of the group I work for is located on the Fındıklı-Tophane line has given me the chance to spend the last 10 years of my professional life in this region, but the impact of this distinguished neighborhood on me has always been far beyond that. The unique Fındıklı-Tophane-Karaköy region, which bridges the historical city starting from Dolmabahçe, is actually Istanbul's gateway to history, culture, commerce, and art for 1000 years, and even, with the Meclis-i Mebusan Street that bears its name, it is a special neighborhood that hosted the Second Constitutional Era of the Ottoman Empire. The Fındıklı-Tophane coastline also boasts one of the most beautiful views in the world, maintaining its charm throughout every era.
