Summary:
One of the largest collections of its kind is magnificently represented in this beautifully crafted two-volume catalog. Şefik E. Atabey, a Turkish businessman and bibliophile based in Istanbul who was involved in commodity trading in Paris and London, assembled this extremely important collection over a period of more than 35 years. The collection, which spans from the 15th century to the 20th century, focuses on the Ottoman World.
The catalog features approximately 1,400 entries, including detailed color images of magnificent book bindings, maps, manuscripts, and other valuable items from the library itself. Produced as an expensive and heavy-bound work, it has been meticulously researched and cataloged.
